Mulberry Project on national TV

Community group The Mulberry Project will feature on the ABC’s Gardening Australia program tonight, Friday 31 May, at 7.30pm with gardening guru Costa Georgiadis.

The Mulberry Project is the brainchild of Nobby resident Louise Noble, who established a community garden on her property tended by new migrants to Australia and refugees and now also has a community garden in Toowoomba.

Participants benefit from growing fresh produce to use in their national cuisines and from the social interaction The Mulberry Project provides.

The Mulberry Project featured as a Free Times cover story in June last year, when work began on a new plot of ground next to St David’s Anglican Church at Allora.

The plan is to establish another community garden on the site, with Louise now awaiting the outcome of a grant application to Skilling Queenslanders for Work, a joint venture between Growcom and Downs Group Training, and another grant application to the Southern Downs Regional Council.

If all goes according to plan The Mulberry Project expects to commence operations at Allora in August to September of this year.
