Gorge road to remain closed: SDRC

The Southern Downs Regional Council says due to “safety concerns for road users on the river crossings” Condamine River Road remains closed, with the gate at Killarney re-locked from today, Wednesday 6 January.

A council spokeswoman said visitors in the area “should take care around water crossings which are subject to fast changing depths and flows after rainfall”.

“Access to Killarney via Boonah is still available through Spring Creek Road,” the spokeswoman said.

“Council is mindful that this area is a natural treasure and the public road is part of the delicate ecosystem.

“Council apologises for any inconvenience caused and seeks motorists’ patience and cooperation during the road closure period.

“Further updates will be provided on the Southern Downs Regional Council’s Facebook page and website.

“If you have any questions please contact SDRC’s Customer Service team on 1300 697 372, by emailing mail@sdrc.qld.gov.au, using the MYSDRC App, or using the online services atwww.sdrc.qld.gov.au”
