Bloomin’ Beautiful

Flower Power: Bec, Justin and Holly Everbloom with their children Euca and Maiya.

When Holly and Jason met at the tender age of 15, they fell in love and became high school sweethearts.

They’ve been inseparable since 2004.

Holly Everbloom said they married in 2012 before adventuring as Willing Workers on Organic Farms (WWOOF) around Canada for their honeymoon.

“WWOOFing is volunteering your time to work and learn on organic farms in exchange for meals, lodging, and culture.”

“The learning experience put us in good stead to work our own farming lifestyle.”

“We realised that farming was our path,” she said.

New View Farmers located near Stanthorpe are a certified family farm specialising in seasonal cut flowers, bulbs and vegetables.

The farm was established in 2014 by Holly and Justin.

Now Holly, Jason and Bec Everbloom manage the daily workings of the farm since 2018.

“We are only a small farm, and each season is different for us,” Holly said.

“We love growing vegetables, fruit and flowers and are grateful for the amazing support and demand for our organically grown seasonal fresh blooms and Dahlia tubers in the region.”

The goal of the organic farm is to have flowers available all year round, for every season.

“This beautiful climate that we have in this area lends us to being able to grow a whole lot of flowers that you wouldn’t have the same success growing in Brisbane or even in the sub-tropics.

Daffodils, tulips and spring bulbs like the Jonquils all require a slightly cooler temperature than what Southeast Queensland offers.

“Our main flower crop is the Dahlias which lasts all through the summer months until the frost comes and then we turn to dividing the tubers.”

New View Farmers sell tubers to the local community and are open to direct orders for bunches and buckets online or via phone.

They will have a stall at the Granite Belt Farmers Market’s on Saturday 1 October.

“We are looking at opening the farm up to public access when the Dahlias are in bloom next summer after we had a successful event with the Crimson Dalhia Society visit.

The New View Farmers are located at Maryland/Wylie Creek area.
