The annual Rose Fiesta mixed fours carnival was hosted by the Ladies of the Warwick East Bowls club last Saturday.

Each of the 14 teams that played had to include at least one lady and one man.

After a couple of days of rain, the green played very well, although the gusty breeze proved tricky at times.

Coming up roses were winners were Trudy Elder, Gail Wilmot, Nick Pianta anbyd Sandra Pianta. Joe Torrisi, Dave Scotney, Marian Skaines and Kim Hankinson were the runners up with third place filled by Ron Philps, Peter Gynther, Sue Butz and Aaron McKinney.

The winners of each round also received prizes.

They were: Round One – Bogga, Terri, Wendy and Gordon; Round Two – Ed Diery, John Harslett, Lynn Collie and Norm Hassum; Round Three – Jackie Richie, Sid Morris, Danny Hughes and Aaron Richie.

The event was sponsored by Warwick Credit Union, Warwick RSL Memorial Club, Warwick Jewellers, Red Rooster, Olsen’s Hardware and Mid-City Motel.

The Warwick East ladies extend a big thank you to the event sponsors and also those who donated items for the raffle prize donors and the many volunteers from the club who helped make the event such a success.

Today (Thursday) the club hosts the monthly mixed triples day. Play begins at 10am.

Mixed social bowls resume this Saturday. A reminder that play starts at 1pm and names must be submitted between 11.45 and 12.30.

Although the jackpot has been somewhat depleted by recent wins, it is still substantial, and every player gets an opportunity to win the Jackpot.

The usual prizes will be on offer as well.

A reminder that bowls on Saturday 30 October will be sponsored by Norm Hassum in memory of his late wife Dorothy.

All bowlers and others who knew Dorothy are invited to join Norm on the day.
