Members of the Southern Cross Bowls Club were chanting rain, rain, go away, come again another day, …. preferably not on a bowls day after play on Thursday was cancelled and with storms still threatening on Friday, night bowls were also called off.
There is an upside to the rain, it “greened” up the green nicely and with fine weather on Sunday the green was perfect for a great social game.
Members were joined by half a dozen bowlers visiting from West Toowong Bowls Club and a couple of local barefoot bowlers boosted the numbers.
Four teams played Triples and another four played Pairs.
Linda, Val and Kim were the lucky recipients of the cash prize.
Sometimes just one little error cannot go unnoticed. John Johnson and Clark Davidson are both experienced bowlers but somehow, they each forgot the small circle on the bowl goes on the inside.
That is so when you deliver your bowl turns towards the centre of the rink you are playing on and not next door.
The penalty for this is drinks all round, which made an excellent accompaniment to the pizza at afternoon tea.
Today, Thursday 7 Oct, the Ladies Committee Meeting is holding a meeting at 10.30am which will be followed by Social Mixed Bowls at 1pm.
Everyone is welcome simply Ring Val Gray on 0409 611 930 to book in or be at the club by 12.30pm to get a game.

The club is hosting the popular Monthly Turkey Triples on Wednesday 13 October.

On Friday evening 15 October, the lights will be on for bowls.
Start time is 5.30pm so please be at the club by 5pm to nominate or contact Clark, 0427 673 277.
Once again everyone including barefoot bowlers are welcome.
A BBQ is included so bring your friends or family, just yourself or even a group from work for a great night.
