Shooting club remembers “Harry”

Cooper S receives his award for first placed junior from Rifle Captain Gary.

The Clifton Benchrest Shooting Club held the Dave Harrison Memorial Shoot on Sunday 17 March2024.

Harrison was a founding member of the rifle club and was known by his friends as Harry.

Harrison, a good mate of Laurie Bowe and the other founding members, would, with a few other shooters, get a bus on a Friday night and go to Belmont Range in Brisbane to shoot Rimfire Benchrest, which was a great night out.

He was also a projectile maker, and the club members were happy to get their projectiles from him with some very small groups resulting.

Sadly, he lost his battle with cancer several years ago so each March we dedicate the Rimfire shoot in his honour.

Shooters were greeted with very blustery conditions, and it stayed that way all day.

We did see some great scores. Gary proved to be on form again in the Men’s Open Rimfire.

ln the ladies it was bit of a nail biter between second and third place.
