SEVEN new citizens were officially welcomed into the Southern Downs community last week at a ceremony in Warwick.
The seven new citizens were Frank and Phyllis Seidl, Lesley Saunders, Singh Sachepal, Kaur Danvir, Gillian Purcell and Kavita Arora.
Acting Mayor Cr Ross Bartley conducted the ceremony at the Warwick council offices on Thursday.
Cr Bartley said he was delighted to welcome the seven new citizens and invited them to share morning tea with their family members and councillors after the ceremony.
“It’s quite special to be part of their day as they become an Australian citizen,” he said.
All new citizens are presented with a certificate and an Australian native plant as a welcome gift from their local council and community.
