Market celebrations

TURNING 21 is always exciting – even when you’re a market.
The iconic Stanthorpe Market in The Mountains, supported by the Southern Downs Regional Council, is set to celebrate its 21st this weekend.
Celebrations will be held at the Stanthorpe Civic Centre between 8am and noon on Sunday 23 March.
Spokesperson for the Stanthorpe Crafters and Hobbyists Association Inc, Heather Dux, said all through the years, various committees of stallholders have resisted the call to include non-handmade items in the markets.
“It has paid off for us with so many visitors constantly being delighted at finding a genuine craft market where we make, bake, sew or grow what we sell,” she said.
“Come along to the Stanthorpe Civic Centre between 8am and 12 noon and help us celebrate.
“We have our usual quality handcrafts, free face-painting for the children, balloons, random gifts to be handed out to visitors and a slice of our birthday cake which will be cut by Councillor Denise Ingram after 10am.
“Mason the Magician will also be there performing his amazing card tricks. Something for everybody.”
