AN empty hall and two enthusiastic collectors have led to a new tourist attraction in Killarney.
The Killarney RSL Sub-branch officially open their War Memorabilia Display at the Killarney RSL hall at the weekend after months and months of hard work and collecting.
The display, which will be open by appointment, was officially opened by Southern Downs Regional Council mayor Peter Blundell on Saturday afternoon.
RSL sub-branch member Carol Domjahn said members Jim McGee and David Nicholls, both Vietnam veterans, had spent a lot of time and money collecting the memorabilia for the display.
“We have war service uniforms, photos, local war history,” she said.
Carol said the idea for the display came after the RSL hosted the local historical society as a tenant of their hall for a couple of years.
“When they moved out, the hall looked very bare,” she joked.
She said it was hoped to open the display on weekends and appointments could be made to view it through president Jim Domjahn on 07 4664 8310.
