TENTERFIELD have taken out this year’s Southern Downs District Ladies Bowls Association Championship Fours Competition held at Tannymorel Bowls Club late last month.
Sponsored by the Warwick Credit Union, this year’s event included eight teams from six clubs (Tannymorel, Tenterfield, Southern Cross, Warwick Ladies, Warwick East and The Summit).The weather was fine and sunny and the newly renovated green was running well.
The first day’s competition consisted of three 14-end rounds. The ladies played some very good bowls with Tannymorel and Tenterfield going through to the final on Tuesday. The final was one 18-end round and the final score of 18-12 belied the closeness of the game which saw Tenterfield coming out the winners.
The wind on the second day was gusty early on, but settled for the second half of the game.
Lunch both days were provided by Tannymorel Bowls Club at no cost to the players and was much appreciated.
