Women get the wow! factor

The Wow committee.

LESS than 12 hours after they went on sale, tickets for Women of Warwick’s WOW Showtime breakfast in April were sold out.
WOW events have been in high demand since they began in 2013.
The tickets are available to any women who would like to attend, and the secret of the event success is simple – people seek connection and inspiration and WOW breakfasts offer that in bucketloads.
The event features a keynote speaker as well as a five minute ’word of wisdom’ speaker, but the identity of speakers is not published in advance.
“The first event sold out in a couple of days, and we thought that was amazing,“ explained WOW spokesperson Sue Hamlet.
“Then it happened again and again, and now we rarely have tickets left after midday on the day of release.
“It’s a surprise package,“ said Mrs Hamlet.
“Team WOW love to keep it fresh and the guests never know who’s going to be speaking. But so far, we must be getting it right.“
Team WOW consists of five community minded women – Nicole Kane (Temp Solutions), Catherine Travers (Condamine Headwaters Landcare Group), Julia Keogh (ESN Solutions, Partners in Recovery), Corinne Butler (Tweak HR) and Sue Hamlet (Fledge Design and Community Development).
The events are generously supported by the Southern Downs Industry Education Association Inc (SDIEA), a local not for profit organisation that engages and connects young people in and to work and training opportunities.
Team WOW met for a breakfast planning meeting this week, and Ms Hamlet hinted there were many more surprises to come with future speakers.
“We really listen to the feedback from each breakfast, and our guests tell us to keep it real, keep it local – and leave plenty of time for getting to know others.“
WOW Showtime is on 7 April at the new Bluebird Kitchen and Bar, on the corner of Palmerin and Percy streets.
WOW is held at a different venue each time, with the goal to expand the capability and experience of local businesses.
