TIRED of the expense and wait to visit a doctor?
Health specialists are providing free medical care for all women at a hospital near you. But it’s for a few days only next month, so book in now to avoid missing out.
Darling Downs Hospital and Health Service mobile women’s health nurse Kath Anning will conduct clinics in Warwick, Killarney and Stanthorpe, while fellow nurse Barbara Milne will see patients in Goondiwindi.
The service is confidential and is available to all women.
Ms Anning said it was a good opportunity for women to stop putting off a pap smear.
“A pap smear every two years can prevent the most common form of cervical cancer in up to 90 per cent of cases and is the best protection against cervical cancer,” Ms Anning said.
“All women should start having pap smears between the ages of 18 and 20 years.”
The nurses will also provide a range of other services including breast awareness and sexual health testing as well as advice for issues such as continence, menopause, contraception and general well-being.
Appointments are necessary.
