SCOTS PGC College will play host to the Spring Celtic Weekend, on Saturday 5 September, with a day full of music, food and culture.
The tartan, glengarries and sporrans from bands across South East Queensland will compete for band and individual prizes. Hundreds of pipers, drummers and guests will converge on the schools grounds with competition starting from 8.30am.
Local food, Celtic produce and crafts will be on display with a variety of market stalls. Pipe bands will keep market goers entertained as a variety of baked goods, arts and crafts will be on offer.
At night, bands and dancers will take to the floor in the college hall for a night of traditional Scottish entertainment. Warwick’s Inverness Dancers will join Scots on stage before a traditional supper, a choir of old Celtic ballads and an Auld Lang Syne farewell.
“Anyone with an interest of Celtic heritage will enjoy the evening,” Scots events co-ordinator Judi Haidley said.
She expects visitors from Caledonian societies as well as from a variety of old time and country dance fraternities around Brisbane and Southern Queensland.
Tickets are available at the college office. For details call 0414 326 871.
