DURING the weekend the population of Killarney swelled from about 1000 to an estimated 5000 people for the annual running of the Border Ranges Trail Bike Ride.
The ride is organised by volunteers and proceeds go towards the Killarney State School and other various community groups.
This year’s ride saw 2066 participants of all ages and included about 74 kilometres of trails in both Queensland and New South Wales, with the ride occurring on both the Saturday and Sunday.
Most participants choose to camp in the showgrounds and the Killarney recreation grounds on Willow Street.
Sergeant Bradley Doyle of Killarney police said throughout the entire weekend, there was only one reported offence which unfortunately related to the wilful damage of a bullock display at the Killarney Heritage Centre.
He said the police would like to thank participants for their behaviour and looked forward to seeing them back again next year.
