Beautiful rugs on show

Display of the handcrafted rugs for charity at Woodenbong Catholic Church.

A MORNING tea and public showing of rugs and handcrafted items was held at the Catholic Church, Woodenbong earlier this month.
The display featured the dedicated and talented handiwork of a group of craftswomen who come from Woodenbong, Urbenville and Ballina.
The knitters and crocheters had produced 41 rugs which were much admired for their variety and quality.
This year most of the completed items will be sent to Sister Denise Laverty of the Sisters of Mercy, Brisbane to be distributed to the needy.
The items are usually all gone in two weeks with some donated to charitable organisations where raffles raise funds for worthy causes.
Generous donations were received on the day by those who attended the showing which will be used to buy wool for the future creations.
A very big ‘Thank You’ to all those involved for such a worthy and charitable effort.
