Show royalty in waiting as bootcamp gears up

Do you have what it takes to be a rodeo queen.

WITH the 2016 Warwick Rodeo Queen Quest fast approaching, plans are well underway for the Rodeo Queen Bootcamp which will be held at the Warwick Showgrounds on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 June.
Former Warwick Rodeo Queen and current Queen Quest co-ordinator Kate Christensen said that the information and training which will be on offer at the bootcamp is vital for not only all present and future Rodeo Queen Quest winners and contestants, but anyone who wanted to know more about the sport of rodeo and what it takes to be a rodeo queen.
“The weekend will consist of two full days of training including horsemanship, hair and make-up, etiquette, public speaking and so much more,” she said.
Kate stressed the importance of not having to be a rodeo queen contestant or a local to come along to the bootcamp.
“A lot of the information that will be taught at this weekend isn’t just relevant to the rodeo queen quest but to future showgirl entrants and anyone wanting to improve their confidence and life skills in general.
“So many of the girls who have attended previously have made long lasting friendships, developed vital skill and built confidence along the way.”
With the event just over a week away, Kate said she was hoping to have more than 20 participants.
“I would like to see a large turn out of girls as it’s great way to get involved in the local community, learn new skills and have a fun and informative weekend,” Kate said.
