THREE Warwick West State School students have enjoyed ‘le succes’ in the 2016 French Global Schools Film Competition.
An entry from Year 6 students Dakota Newton, Jessica Mullally and Christie Lyons was selected as the runner-up with each girl receiving an iPad mini as a prize.
French teacher Helen Gray congratulated the girls on their innovative work.
“The girls, along with Year 5 and 6 French students were offered the opportunity to produce a digital presentation in French entitled ‘Hanging out with friends’,” she said.
“Their entry was unique in that they actually filmed themselves hanging upside down on play equipment with friends during their lunch breaks, conversing in French.”
Ms Gray said the film competition aimed to make language study relevant and exciting for students, provide an opportunity for students to use their language to communicate, and to showcase students’ teamwork and media abilities.
“Entries were judged on originality and relevance of content, the appropriateness of language choices and communication skills, and the technical quality of the film,” she said.
“For the judging, demonstration of language proficiency was assessed by experts from the Institute of Modern Languages (IML), Goethe institute, MLTAQ, Confucius Institute at QUT and Alliance Francaise.”
Other West students to be congratulated on the high quality of their presentations include Felicity Hughes, Georgina Storer, Tasmyn Walters, Sophie Strom, Sophie Kuhn, Gemma Vickers, Alexis Casey, Maddie Thomson, Tarliah Scriviner, Bianca Maloney, Sophie Crispin and Alyssa Welsh.
“All teams worked beautifully to produce high quality films and they should be very proud of their efforts,” Ms Gray said.
