Quilters come together

Many hands make light work, they say, and the quilters from Stanthorpe, Warwick and all over the land are putting that statement to work.
Join with them in the fun of the inaugural Stanthorpe Apple and Grape Harvest Festival Quilting Competition.
To enter, simply complete an entry block 1 x 10 ½” made from 100 per cent washed cotton in the theme of Carnival (Rio).
The entry blocks must include one or more of the following colours: red, purple, pink, orange, green, blue and yellow and be submitted by August 1.
These blocks will then be put together by the ladies from the Dalveen Quilting Group.
Events director Gerard Torrisi said, “The entry blocks will form part of a friendship quilt, which will be raffled by the 2012 Apple and Grape Harvest Festival Young Ambassadors leading up to the festival.
“As this is our inaugural event, we would love to see many entries and make this a real part of the fabric that brings people to the Apple and Grape Harvest Festival every two years.
“We come together as a community; and family members come back for a visit to attend many of the festival events.
“Don’t forget entry blocks need to be in by August 1 and your quilts for the Festival Exhibition will be required late February 2012.”
Why not be a part of this event by entering into one of the four categories and be in the running for some fabulous prizes.
Grand Champion prize is a weekend at the Stacey’s at the Gap. Stacey’s specialise in retreats for patch workers, scrap bookers, card makers or any crafty people.
Visit www.appleandgrape.org or any one of the following stores: Canning Town Patchwork (Warwick), Glenrose Patchwork (Warwick), Pozzy’s Patchwork (Stanthorpe), Shelley’s Curtain & Craft (Warwick), Warwick Patchwork (Warwick), Weeroona Art & Craft (Stanthorpe) and Quilters Angel (Toowoomba) for entry forms and details on the competition and the exhibition.
