At a recent Stanthorpe Lions meeting, Geraldine Hollingsworth from Granite Belt Support Services (GBSS) accepted a cheque for $3000 towards computer equipment and software to help motivate children and help them improve their communication skills.
Ms Hollinsworth, who is the occupational therapist and speech pathologist at GBSS spoke of the needs of their clients and demonstrated the way in which iPADs (one of the pieces of equipment to be purchased) are able to help the children.
The grant was made possible by a donation from the Lions Club of Stanthorpe and matching funds from the Australian Lions Foundation (ALF).
The ALF was formed in 1981 and is funded from voluntary gifts from Lions clubs all over Australia, as well as the public, to provide assistance for emergency aid and community welfare, both at home and overseas.
