There is still time for Leyburn residents to have their say about whether or not the Leyburn Sprints Barriers, which line the sprints time trial route, should remain in Leyburn.
Southern Downs Regional Council distributed a survey about the barriers to all letter boxes in Leyburn in mid January.
By the closing date of February 3, the council received 136 responses out of 278 surveys distributed.
“Almost half of households have responded to the survey so far,” acting chief executive officer Andrew Ireland said.
“This is an excellent response rate, which should give a balanced understanding of the views of the Leyburn community,” Mr Ireland said.
“However, some people have approached the council to say they did not see the original survey form,” he said.
If you have not yet completed a survey and would like to have your input recorded, contact Sheree Davis on (07) 4661 0300 as soon as possible to avoid missing out.
The survey is being conducted following requests from some people seeking the removal of the concrete barriers, and letters from other people supporting the continuation of the permanent installation of the barriers.
“The survey responses will be collated and presented at the March 2012 council meetings to assist the council with making a decision that reflects the wishes of the majority of Leyburn residents,” Mr Ireland said.
