Yesterday marked 56 years since the Battle of Long Tan and members of the Warwick community, school students and the RSL Sub-Branch attended a commemorative service at Leslie Park to honour veterans who served at this time.

18 Australians were killed at Long Tan and 24 were wounded, equally over one-third of the initial force engaged.

In total, almost 60,000 Australians served in Vietnam, 521 died and over 3,000 were wounded.

2022 also marks 60 years since Australia’s first involvement in the Vietnam War.
