Golfers support police legacy

The thin blue line extended to the Warwick Golf Course at the weekend as Warwick Sporters Golf Club hosted the 2022 Police Legacy Golf Day.

Spokesman for the Sporters club, Garry Hanson said the day is very popular on the golfing calendar and was well supported again this year.

“More than players enjoyed a great day put together by our local “Copper”,” Sgt. Shane Reid said.

“Thanks to a mighty effort from Shane who sourced a multitude of sponsors, too many to name, and the Sporters donation we have made a donation of $3800 toward Police Legacy, a very worthwhile cause”.

Thirty-one members of the ladies club and a small group of ladies from Toowoomba joined the Stableford competition.

Greg Burton playing off an AGU Handicap of 13 shot a two over par round of 71 to win the event with a score of 47 points. (The handicapper sees and hears all and Burton lost three shots off his handicap for that effort).

The runner-up was Mel McLennan with 39 points. The Bradman’s spoils went to Jason Kubicek and Annie Hill.

Shane Reid passed on his thanks to the many businesses and people who generously provided prizes and money. It once again made the day a great event. Keep an eye out for next year’s event there is always room for golfers of all ability to get on board and support this cause.

A grade winner was Keith Clarke37 points, B Grade winner “Chainsaw” Al Matthews 34 points, C Grade winner Steve Rouse 38 points. Non Golf winner Paul Gordon.

Ladies winner Leah Esler 37 points, runner up Annice Payne 36 points, third place Tub Ingall 35 fourth to Trish Bell 35 ponts. Members Gross Sam McLennan 75.

Members Long Drive was a family affair with Sam McLennan taking the Men’s division and Mel McLennan the Ladies division.

The Police Gross winner was Greg Burton and non Golf winner Jim Doyle just pipping Matthew Hagley.

Eagles Nest 15th Mark Thomas. Third Shot on the 18th went to Doug Wilson, non golfer’s prize went to Jim Doyle. Ladies fourth shot on 18 went the way of Ellie Casey,
