Football finals underway

The 2022 Stanthorpe Football Finals Series gets underway this weekend.

The Ballandean Football club host the Major Semi Finals to be played on Saturday.

The action at Cec Curr Oval begins at 10am with the Fillies Major Semi between Ballandean who finished top of table and second placed Inter Club.

The Junior Colts game between Ballandean and United will be played at 11.25am.

In the Senior Colts top of the table Carlton play United at 12.50pm.

The Ladies Major Semi between Inter and Ballandean is scheduled for 2.25pm and will be followed by the clash main game of the day between minor premiers Carlton and second placed United at 4.05pm.

The winners of each of the major semi-finals earn a week off before taking their place in the 2022 grand final at the CF White Oval on 3 September.

The losing teams earn a second chance and will play the winners of Sunday’s knock out games at Federation Park Tenterfield on 27 August.

The Minor Semi Finals on Sunday will also be played at Cec Curr Oval, Ballandean.

In the first of the knockout semis at 10am, United Fillies play Tenterfield Fillies.

Carlton and Inter go head-to-head in the Junior Colts game and will be followed by the Senior Colts clash between City and Inter.

In the Ladies knock out semi-final Carlton take on Tenterfield. The game scheduled for a 2.25pm start.

In the main game, the Men’s Minor Semi-final it will be go hard or go home for either Ballandean or City. The game scheduled to start at 4.05pm. Ballandean sure to have a big contingent of home ground supporters.

It is a big weekend of football and supporters are urged to get behind their respective clubs and head down to Ballandean to take in all the semi-final action.

2022 PRESENTATION NIGHT AWARDS

The Stanthorpe Soccer Federation held their annual Awards night on Saturday night.

The winner of the prestigious President’s Award in memory of the late Angelo Maugeri was this year won by Bec Telford.

The awards for Player of the Year were won by :-

Ashley Bell (Fillies); Riley Squibb (Junior Colts); Riley Butler (Senior Colts); Megan Jones (ladies).

The Men’s A Grade player of the Year is the multi-talented Jordan Lanza.

Ballandean Fillies were the winners of Rounds One Tow and Three. On the back of those results, they won the premiership and the most goals by a club in their division.

The round one winners in Junior Colts were United; round two winners were Carlton while Ballandean won round three and the premiership and most goals.

Carlton scored a clean weep in the Senior Colts winning the three rounds, the premiership and also the most goals.

In the Ladies competition Inter also scored a clean sweep.

It was a mixed bag in the Men’s A Grade.

The first two round winners were Carlton. United won round three but Carlton did enough to secure the premiership and scored the most goals.

The referee’s fair play awards were won by:-

Asher Paulsen (Fillies); Tara Warn (Junior Colts); Dustin Allridge (Senior Colts); Danielle Musumeci (Ladies). Aiden Halford and Hunter Clark shared the Men’s Award.

The Most Improved Awards were won by:-

Holly Hart (Fillies); Chloe Gaske (Junior Colts); Liam Johnston (Senior Colts); Samantha chapman (Ladies) and Matthew Biddulph (Men’s)

Best Emerging Talent Awards were won by:-

Ellie Merchant (Fillies); Jye Marino (Junior Colts): Alex Waterworth (Senior Colts); Taylah Gilbert Harrison Coleman (Men’s)

Player Runners up were :-

Marley Skinner (Fillies); Emmett Schnitzerling (Junior Colts); Torsten Birch (Senior Colts); Allyce Hurren (Ladies); Kobi Jones (Men’s)
