Circus saddles up again

Tenterfield Wintersong Circus team – The Saddlers.

Tenterfield Wintersong’s Youth Circus Troupe have been spreading their showmanship skills over the border.
Following the Wintersong Carnival, the young performers have been travelling regularly to Stanthorpe to provide workshops for Granite Belt Disability Support Services (GBDSS).
The team, aged from eight to 16, are enjoying passing on their skills to youngsters their own age.
It’s been a buzz for all concerned. Coach Carolyn Hall says: “the exercise is proving a valuable leadership experience for Tenterfield’s young instructors”.
She said the GBDSS participants have responded enthusiastically, quick to get a grip on the mix of acrobalance, juggling, hula hoop, poi and gym moves.
Pleased with the level of talent they found, the challenge is now on to get their Stanthorpe peers’ show ready as the workshops culminate with a “Circus Extraordinaire” theme disco on September 8 at the International Club. The Saddlers will also perform on the night.
