A 75-year-old man may have been trapped in his vehicle for up to 11 hours after his car was forced off the road by a heavy vehicle.

On Thursday, 3 November, at about 8.30 am, police and emergency services responded to a traffic crash on the Cunningham Highway, Tregony, west of the Fisher Park Service Station.

The elderly New South Wales driver was found in the damaged silver-coloured SUV off the side of the westbound lane.

That evening was one of the most unseasonably cold nights of the year, recording a low of 3.2 degrees.

He told police that a heavy vehicle had collided with the rear of his car, forcing it off the road.

The man was transported to Warwick Base Hospital with unknown but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are investigating the circumstances and are attempting to identify the other vehicle involved.

It appears that the driver of the heavy vehicle did not stop or attempt to assist the driver.

Police are asking anyone with information about this incident to contact the Warwick police on 4660 444 or contact Crime Stoppers by ringing 1800 333 000.
