Southern Downs Little Athletics will host a mini carnival at Hamilton Oval Warwick on Saturday.

Registrations for the event, for athletes from Under Sixes to Under 17s, are now closed and unfortunately, late nominations cannot be accepted.

Young athletes from Stanthorpe and Warwick will compete in a variety of events with the programme get starting at 9am.

Competitors must be at the Oval by 8.30am to allow time for warm-ups. It is a great opportunity for young competitors to experience a carnival style meet with kids from other groups.

Organisers are strongly advising parents to allow a little extra time to find parking and get to the Oval.

With the carnival on in Warwick organisers of Granite Belt Little Athletics advise that there will be no meet in Stanthorpe on Saturday as members of the committee and all coaches will be involved in Warwick Carnival.

Those athletes that have received a GBLA shirt will be required to wear their uniform. Those who have not yet received their shirts or do not have a centre shirt will be allowed to wear a standard shirt. Standard footwear applies.

Organisers emphasise that athletes are required to have a both a registration number and age label attached to their shirts.

The programme is as follows:

U 6 – 70m; 200 m; Shot Put and Long Jump

U7 – 70, 200, Shot Put, and Long Jump

U 9-U17 – 100m; 200m; 800m; Shot Put; Discus and Long Jump

Medals will be awarded for 1st 2nd and 3rd place in all age groups.

It would be great to see a large crowd at Hamilton Oval on Saturday to show their support and encouragement for the young athletes from across the Southern Downs
