Hot on the heels of the Warwick Rodeo the Clifton Show society last weekend held their Rodeo on Friday night and a big crowd enjoyed all the thrills and spills.

Clifton Show Society Secretary Adele Saville said the organisers had been happy with the way the event went.

“We were really pleased with the way the event unfolded,” Saville said.

“With the Clifton Show cancelled earlier in the year due to Covid were keen to hold the Rodeo on Friday night. “It backed up nicely to the big Warwick Rodeo and is the weekend we normally hold our Team penning event”.

Crowd numbers were estimated to be around 1000 and many of the competitors from Warwick were back in action at Clifton.

Many of the riders in all classes were backing up after a big week and weekend in Warwick.

The open Saddle ride proved popular with 11 riders vying for honours. Keilan Cox won the event from Darcy Wockner and Joe McQueen.

Only two rider took on the bareback ride. Tyson Croucher taking home the prizemoney with a score of 71 points.

Barrel Racing is always popular and attracts a large number of nominations and that was the case in the open Barrel race which was won by Brydie Leeson (15.882sec). In the junior event another big field lined up with Miley Hart (15.031) taking the win.

The Junior bull events also proved popular with aspiring young bull riders.
