Wheatvale have scored a 56-run win over Vic Hill in their round six Warwick Cricket Association Condamine Cup clash at Keith Masters Oval, Allora at the weekend.

Wheatvale won the toss and batted first with Tom Doherty starring with the bat, well on his way to his first ton of the season when he was stranded on 92 at the end of Wheatvale’s innings.

It was a good performance from the Wheatvale top order openers Riley Doherty (41) and Jordan Stonehouse (23) both batted well with Hayden Doherty adding 66 runs to the total off just 53 deliveries.

Wheatvale were 5/270 after their 40 overs at the crease and feeling like they were in pole position,

Things began badly when Sandhu one of the Vic Hill openers was out for one to have them one for one. They recovered to get to 2/128 thanks to a great partnership between Nick Morris and Harry Sandhu, Harry Sandhu fell for 76. Shortly after Morris was bowled by Chris Cantwell for 58. The score was 3/136 however a mid-order collapse gave Wheatvale the upper hand and despite a solid 30(no) from 20 deliveries from Joshua Henry. Vic Hill fell well short out for 214 in the 27th over.

In the second game on Saturday the Warwick Redbacks continued their good form defeating Colts by 36 runs at Slade Oval. Redbacks batted first after winning the toss and put on 236. It was genuinely good batting performance across the board with all but one batsman in the top order contributing to the total.

Opener Sam Lowney top scored with 60 from 67 deliveries. Maugan Benn was the best of the Colts bowlers taking 3/59. His spell included seven maiden overs.

Chasing 236 was never ging to be easy for the defending premiers. Maughan Benn topped the scoring for Colts with an excellent 63. Captain John Cleary opened the batting with Josh Rutledge and slapped a quick-fire 32 from 22 deliveries before he was dismissed.

Colts were all out for 200 well short of the required total.

On Sunday Sovereign Animals played Allora at Slade. Animals won the toss and sent Allora in, a decision they may have regretted when Allora set them 200 to win. Jack Duggan topped the Allora scoring with 30 but it was a good all-round performance from Allora,

In reply Animals were dismissed for 45 in the 13th over.
