Lisa-Rose Halcrow pleaded guilty to manslaughter in Toowoomba Supreme Court on 8 November in relation to the 2018 death of two-year-old Connor Horan.

Halcrow, 42, was initially charged with murder and grievous bodily harm in 2020 over the incident.

The murder trial was scheduled to be held in Toowoomba this week, but Ms Halcrow’s murder charge was downgraded to manslaughter.

The charge of grievous bodily harm has been severed from the manslaughter charge and will be remitted to the District Court once Halcrow is sentenced for manslaughter.

Halcrow was remanded in custody and will be sentenced in the Supreme Court tomorrow on 18 November.

Connor died on August 19, 2018, after being taken to Warwick Hospital with multiple injuries both internal and to his head. He was pronounced dead later that day.

Ms Halcrow regularly looked after the child and was looking after him the day he died.

Police declared three crime scenes on 31 January 2020, before charging Ms Halcrow. This included two addresses and a vehicle.

The police reportedly received a significant amount of information from an anonymous source, which led to the initial arrest.

Initially, Ms Halcrow stated that Connor had fallen down some stairs and she thought he might have broken something but not sustained any serious injuries due to the height of the stairs.
