A 17-year-old Texas man died in a multi vehicle crash near Gladfield Back Road yesterday afternoon, about 2.40 pm.
He was the sole occupant of the ute, which was travelling west on the Cunningham Highway when it collided with two oncoming vehicles.
The young man suffered critical injuries and died at the scene.
The occupants of the other two vehicles were transported to hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage from the area to come forward.
The highway was closed in both directions for several hours.
Investigations are continuing.
