Claire McKenzie, the popular Stanthorpe seamstress, who sustained critical injuries on Thursday morning after a slashing accident, has had both her legs amputated and one of her arms.

The 60-year-old woman was slashing on her property in Ballandean at the time when it’s alleged the machinery she was driving hit a large rock, knocking her from the tractor and underneath the machinery.

Ms McKenzie was the only person on the property at the time and, despite her life-threatening injuries, managed to call Emergency services.

QAS attended the private property in Watter Road just before lunchtime and was assisted by QFES and the QPS.

The Rescue 500 chopper transported Ms McKenzie to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane, where she remains.

Workplace Health and Safety Queensland and the Forensic Crash Unit are investigating.
