As Amelia bids farewell

Amelia Willmer is heading into retirement, having made a mark in her short sting with Today.

By Amelia Willmer

Today will be my final edition at Warwick and Stanthorpe Today as I head off to pursue a happy retirement.

It has been a privilege to return to general reporting for the past three months and to set up new columns such as Dr Goodwell, Police Beat and On The Money.

I thank Group Editor Garry Howe for his friendship and support, particularly over some of the negative reactions to hard news stories.

I welcome Editorial Co-ordinator Cameron Thompson to his new appointment with this newspaper where he will oversee the journalistic content.

Although I have worked on international, national and state newspapers, my first love as a journalist was always “the local rag”.

I hope I have met a newspaper’s duty to inform, educate and entertain.

I sure will miss writing Odd Spots!

Thank you readers. I bid you a fond farewell.
