Doing the Time Warp again

They dressed up. They sang. They danced. They had a ball. It was a case of let’s do the Time Warp again when more than 40 people gathered at the historic Arcadia Theatre in Stanthorpe to revel in the screening of the iconic film, ’The Rocky Horror Picture Show’ last week (24 March).

Spokesperson for the Stanthorpe Film Society Sandy Venn-Brown said the screening attracted some real die-hard Rocky Horror fans who wholeheartedly threw themselves into the fun. One man even tottered on stilettos to get the right effect with his costume!

The film was chosen as the society’s fundraiser, the only film of the year where non-members could come along for the big screen viewing. Otherwise, the films are a members-only kind of deal.

“The majority of the people who came weren’t members, so it was hugely successful for us. We pick our fundraiser film carefully – we always try to choose something that’s iconic and that we think people will really enjoy seeing on the big screen,” said Sandy.

It certainly was a winner. There was a young Brad and Janet couple, many more solo Janets and lots of Transylvanians in the crowd.

You don’t have to wait until the next fundraiser to become a member. Just go along to a movie, pay your $20 membership and $10 for the film of the night, then sit back and enjoy the show.

The next film is ‘The Secret of Santa Vittoria’, a 1969 classic about a town that hides a million bottles of wine during the second World War. It will screen at the Arcadia Theatre on 15 April.
