Goodbye and good luck, Andrew

Southern Downs Regional Council interrupted its ordinary council meeting last week (April 12) to say a fond farewell to long-time employee Andrew Page.

He and his family are moving to England and will be there in time for the Coronation of the King.

A number of Councillors, including the Mayor, publicly thanked Andrew for his work ethic, his concise explanations, forthright approach and dry sense of humour.

Cr Pennisi, in praising Andrew for the contribution he had made to the organisation, said he had known Andrew in community organisations like soccer and swimming prior to either of them becoming involved in Local Government.

Already out of his suit and tie, the former Director of Corporate and Community Services had these words for the Councillors:

“We don’t come into Local Government for ourselves. We come in for our community, and I think that as long as we keep our community at the forefront of our minds – as number one – it’ll be all good.“
