Snowflakes in Stanthorpe

By Tracey Gosney

On Friday 30 June, Snowflakes in Stanthorpe will take over downtown Stanthorpe. This year will be a little different to previous festivals, with the main street staying open … but you can still expect the same great family fun for the whole day across two main stages and throughout the streets.

We aren’t short of entertainment with the introduction of The Bushpunks, an Aussie robotic band made up of a ragtag bunch of old robots. As well, Larrikin Puppets, Levi X & Dad and local favourite Elle Rudd are sure to keep the whole family entertained. Roving entertainers along with our very own

cheerful Marlay will be around so make sure you grab a photo with them and share your photos to #snowflakes23!

Vendors including Granite Belt artisans will line the streets so that you can shop till you

drop. There will be an abundance of delicious food available throughout the day as well.

Thanks to Mitre 10, we are able to bring back crowd favourite the Ice Sculpture Challenge, where you can see first-hand magic as chainsaws are used to carve art from blocks of ice. Local icon Kent Saddlery will have a free leather stamping site or if cheesemaking sets your tastebuds alight you’d best save some time to watch Valerie’s demonstration at midday. The day doesn’t finish when the sun goes down – you can create your own lantern and take part in the lantern parade then take in the spectacle that is the laser show by the creek and the magnificent fireworks display.

If your child has a creative flair there’s a chance to create a masterpiece with chalk art, design a badge or even groove along to the drumming set. With so much to do in just one day, you can tuck the family in early Friday evening and prepare for two more epic days down at the Snowgrounds for Snowflakes in Stanthorpe.
