The Marist College Ashgrove Big Band is excited to announce its upcoming performance at Jumpers and Jazz in July on Sunday 30 July.

Get ready to immerse yourself in a captivating blend of jazz and swing as the band takes the stage at Leslie Park and Jazz Arena. Marist College Ashgrove, a renowned Catholic boys’ boarding and day school situated in Brisbane’s inner northwest, is widely recognized for its exceptional music education program.

Leading the Marist Big Band is Dr Andrew Butt, a highly esteemed musician and educator with over three decades of teaching experience at Marist College Ashgrove.

Under Dr Butt’s guidance, the College’s music program has flourished, boasting a remarkable growth from forty students to a staggering six hundred, making it one of the largest cohorts of classroom music in Queensland.

“The Marist music program not only inspires a passion for music but also cultivates lifelong learning and the ability to adapt and create”, expressed Dr Butt.

Recently, Marist unveiled a state-of-the-art recording studio that empowers students to produce work of exceptional quality, surpassing the standards typically associated with high school productions.

The College envisions the recording studio as a platform for students to explore and embrace diverse cultural influences, including indigenous, rural, and urban expressions.

This addition to Marist’s facilities showcases their commitment to evolving technologies and platforms, aiming to provide their students with a competitive edge in their future careers. Notably,Marist College Ashgrove students have achieved remarkable success, with their compositions amassing over 600 million streams on Spotify, a testament to the program’s effectiveness in nurturing talented and inspired artists.
