Please meet Ark’s Animal of the week Dusty, a calm and friendly Stumpy Tail Blue Cattle Dog, born on 11 December 2021 and weighing about 25 kgs.
Dusty is a fine example of a young blue. His body is square-cut, well-muscled and symmetrical. He has a beautifully shaped head with intense, watchful eyes. His double blue coat and tan highlights contribute to a very handsome package.
Dusty came into care with some “war wounds“ on his head, but since the photos were taken, these have healed up nicely.
Clever, energetic and playful, he loves the company of humans and is very dog-friendly, although like a lot of blue dogs he likes to be in charge. He will be most content in a home where he has a compatible canine mate to play with.
He has previously lived with a cat, but cannot be regarded as super cat-friendly.
He’s a gentle, affectionate and thoughtful dog. As smart as new paint, he is highly trainable, cooperative and eager to please. He knows his basic manners and walks nicely on a lead. He will make a loyal companion or family dog.
A typical blue dog, he’s a quiet boy and only barks if there’s reason to do so. He was with his foster mum for almost a week before she heard him bark.
To be happy and content, Dusty will need regular daily exercise and mental stimulation. As always, secure fencing is a must.
Preference will be given to homes where someone is around most of the time And /or there is another compatible dog for Dusty to play with. Previous cattle dog breed experience will be highly regarded.
For those interested in meeting this lovely pup and can offer him a suitable, safe and loving forever home, please complete the online adoption application at southerndownsark.com.au/apply-to-adopt/ and one of our volunteers will be in touch.
Dusty’s adoption fee is $450 and he is desexed, chipped and vaccinated.
He is available for interstate adoption.
