Police have confirmed the death of a man involved in a two vehicle crash at Leyburn on Thursday afternoon.

The 72-year-old was riding a motorbike north on Toowoomba Karara Road, police said, when he collided with a four wheel drive at about 3pm on 29 February.

The Forensic Crash Unit have launched investigations into the incident.

According to police, initial investigations indicated the four wheel drive had been travelling in the opposite direction and attempted to turn right on to Stonehenge Road before the collision.

The motorcyclist, a Leyburn man, died at the scene.

Investigations are ongoing.

As of 26 February, 41 people have died on Queensland roads in 2024, up by two for the same time last year.
