There were spills, thrills and skills galore at this year’s McDougall and Sons 2024 Killarney National Rodeo Association Rodeo held at Killarney Showgrounds on Saturday afternoon.
Killarney Show and Rodeo Association president Jan Hamilton said there were 239 nominations from throughout Queensland, the Southern Downs and Northern NSW.
“So that mean’s 239 something came out on to the arena,” she said allowing for competitors to take part in multiple events.
“That’s a pretty big day. We had a pretty good crowd – just over 500 there to watch.
“We had 14 events and there were no major incidents. It was a really good night, it started at 11am in the morning and went through until at least 8pm. We had the full rodeo starting at 11am.
“That’s it for rodeo’s for us for this year, the next rodeo here will be the Friday night of our show on 21 February.
“MC Bucking Bulls, Destiny Downs and Doak Rodeo Company supplied the stock and the arena surface was perfect and suited all of the events. Congratulations to all the volunteers who put in so much hard work in getting the event together. And a big thank you to the sponsors for continuing to support Killarney and helping us bring these events.”
