Rain got in the way when the Warwick Motocross Club hosted the final of the hotly contested Somerset series on Sunday at their newly rebuilt Morgan Park track.

Club president Monique Andrews said 122 riders hit the track on the weekend but it wasn’t to be the full spectacular day of racing that the club was hoping for.

“Sadly, the rain got the better of us and we had to cancel our 50cc Demo, 50cc Auto and 65cc classes,” she said.

“Our 85cc classes and up still hit the track.

“It was brutal in some sections of the track but the club is grateful for the support of the riders and crew who stuck it out.

“The riders showed so much tenacity and stepped up to the challenges on the day.

“We ended the day with our round presentation, raffles and then our series overall championship presentation.

“There was quite the crowd for presentations with many happy smiling faces which was great to see.

“Many of the riders who were unable to hit the track were kind enough to donate their entries back to the club by way of support.

“We have so much gratitude for all support we are receiving and look forward to our next club day which is being held on Saturday 19 October.”

Spectators are welcome to come out and watch the action.
