Top riders chase titles

THE Queensland Motorcycle Road Race Series returns to Warwick this weekend with some of Queensland’s best riders taking on the Morgan Park Raceway over two days.
Competitors will contest the first of two rounds of the Superbike and Supersport classes to decide Queensland’s Road Race Champions.
Adding to the excitement will be junior road racers showing their talents as they
take to the track for round three of the Motorcycle Road Race Development Association series.
The MDDRA is a hotbed for junior racing talent, and winners of the series are crowned Australian Champion according to Motorcycle Sportsmen of Queensland club president Paul Dawson.
“This year is looking to be a massive year for road racing in Queensland, round one will see some exceptional talent turning wheels at Morgan Park Raceway,” Dawson said.
“We love to see the juniors out on track, the future for these kids is bright and it’s great to be able to host a round of their national championship as part of our own State Championship and Club series.”
Dawson said the 2013 Southern Downs Road Race Series had a high number of competitors, and was the premier championship in the state.
“So merging the club series into the state championship was an obvious way to add value to competitors and makes it easier for those competitors that travel large distances across the state to manage their state title chase,” he said.
Spectator entry to round one is free, and competition will be fierce in every category.
