TENTERFIELD’s Seniors kicked up their heels with a program of events across the six days of NSW Seniors week last week.
Seniors week committee member Christine Sommerlad said numbers were up to all the Seniors’ Week events with activities including everything from grandparents’ days at the local schools to lunches and bus trips.
“We had a very successful week,” she said.
Locally, the week started off with a lunch at Tenterfield Golf Club which included displays and talks from local businesses and groups and the naming of this year’s NSW Seniors Week Tenterfield Local achiever of the year – Daphne Ryan.
Ms Sommerland said the displays included everything from arts and crafts while there were talks by locals solicitors about issues facing older people.
Another very popular demonstration on the use of iphones and ipods was run by local high school with teacher Peter Willis and five students.
The week also included visits to all of the local schools for “grandparents’ days” with concerts, classroom visits and lunches on the menu at the three sites.
