Riding boomtime

THE population of Killarney is set to triple this weekend as people come from as far away as North Queensland and Victoria for the 15th annual Killarney P-10 State School P&C Border Ranges Trail Ride.
The family-orientated fund-raising trail ride winds its way through the scenic, high country from Killarney to the Queensland/New South Wales border and back.
Killarney school’s major fund-raiser for the year, the event also raises money for local businesses and community groups including the SES and Rural Fire Brigades whose volunteers assist in helping to keep the event running smoothly. CareFlight also benefits from the proceeds.
The all ages non-competitive trail ride is open to all classes of motorcycle both registered and unregistered, excluding quads.
The Enduro-X event featuring first prize of $250 is being run on Saturday night, along with ride videos, raffle draw and a licensed bar.
Entry fee for the Enduro-X is only $10. Prize money is also paid to heat winners. Spectator entry is free so all can come along and enjoy the action. A canteen will be operating on both days and Saturday night.
The trail rides’ major sponsor Top Two Motorcycles have generously provided a CRF230 motorcycle as first prize in the raffle.
The track opens at noon on Saturday with the gate out onto the track closing at 2.15pm. On Sunday the track will open at 8am and close at 1pm.
