Winners of the day – R Philps’ team with 31 points, runners-up M Dodson’s team. N Wickham’s team during the second game had a end score of nine, beat that fellows. Thank to all those who played on this day and looking forward to next month.
This weekend, Saturday 15 March the first round of club singles will be played commencing at 1pm, be there by 12-30 for draw. Also Sunday next 16 March is our protected one day carnival so clubs ensure you have a team entered. Names are required for the district club challenge from our members for Saturday 22 March at The Summit Bowls Club – 10 required.
On Monday 17 March at 11am our club will have a visit from BBQ, and would like as many members to be present for this meeting.

Southern Cross Bowl Club
TO begin the notes this week the Presidents and the members of the Southern Cross would like to extend their deepest sympathy to the King family on the passing of Dermot who was the Patron of our club for many years. It was always a pleasure to see Dermot at the club when he called in for a visit. Results of play from Sunday: G Penn, Slave def C Hope, D Scotney in a really close game 19-17; T Gallagher, Y Reid, B Bourke def K Mooney, K Seaby, J Woodrow 22-18 which was another close game.
Coming up next Saturday 15 March will be one call-up for the A grade singles: D Scotney v J Trotter. This game will be play or forfeit. Also we will be having social mixed bowls starting at 2pm. Anyone is welcome to come along and have a game. Following the game we will have a sausage sizzle. Names in by 1.30pm please. The management meeting will also be Saturday 15 March at noon.
The ladies played for the Canning Brooch last Thursday and congratulations goes to Yvonne Reid on her win. Results: Y Reid 19, L Butler 18, L Heywood 18, B Donovon 17, C Hope 10, C Sawyer 10, L Marriott 8. Ladies, the book is now open for our competition singles and pairs and we hope to start these games on 3 April. Social bowls will be held today at 1 pm. A reminder the club’s Gala day is on 20 March which is sponsored by Oak Tree Retirement Village.

The winners were John Ruhle’s team on 19 after a count-back with Barry Johnstone’s team also on 19 points who were runners-up.

Wallangarra Golf Club
THE annual John Green’s sponsored Irish 4BBB was decided on the weekend. The team of Allan Pearce and Kevin Miller returning an Irish mathematical score of 84 points to win over John himself and Mark Clark with 78. Run downs went to Brendan McMillan, Gary Sutcliffe, Dennis Ree, Dennis McMenniman, Kevin Shultz, Peter Williams and Gary Fleming. NTP’s went to Gary, Dennis McMenniman and Mark.

Tenterfield Veteran Golf
ON Tuesday 4 March, 33 Veterans teed off in a 4BBB Stableford. Pat Duck and Denis Hull scored 48 points for bragging rights and the daily trophy win. Runner-up went to brothers Gordon and Douglas Rigden on 45 points. Ball run down to Don Ledema and Wal Marshall 44, Peter and Pam Brown 44, Ashley Harrison and Neil Gale 44 and David Dunnett as a swinger. Pin Shot No 18 Ashley Harrison.
Veteran’s Championship begin next week 18 March with the second round on 25 March.
