Premier to join birthday bash

Queensland Premier Anna Bligh will visit her hometown to help celebrate Warwick’s 150th birthday.
Ms Bligh will attend the variety concert on Saturday night.
“This is a big milestone for Warwick and the surrounding region,” she told the Southern Free Times.
“It was an honour to be invited to join in the celebrations as Warwick has always held a special place in my heart,” Ms Bligh said.
“I would urge everyone in the community to get behind the celebrations – there’s so much to do over the 10 days!”
Southern Downs Regional Mayor Ron Bellingham said the Queensland leader’s planned visit to Warwick was a significant acknowledgement of the event.
“She is always welcome here. It certainly is an acknowledgement from the State of how important this occasion is,” Cr Bellingham said.
“It’s going to be a really significant event,” he said.
Cr Bellingham believed the community needed a lift after experiencing two significant flood events and the impacts of the global financial crisis.
“There’s nothing better than a birthday party and community interaction to lift our spirits.”
