U3A Warwick launches new year offering 25 courses

In its 30th anniversary year, U3A Warwick is inviting new and continuing members to sign up for one or more of 25 courses. Sign on days will be held at the U3A Rooms (corner of Tooth and Wood Street) on 19-20 January from 10am to 2pm.

U3A (The University of the Third Age) provides classes and activities for people who have retired or will soon retire from full time work. New and renewing courses this year include Indonesian Language, Gardening, English Grammar, Basic Computer Skills and Let’s Read the Classics. The latter group, starting in March, will be reading Oscar Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray.

Other courses run by U3A range include birdwatching, bushwalking, tai chi, Line Dancing, card games, crosswords and music and opera appreciation.

U3A President Sally Edwards said one of the courses was Indonesian Language and Culture. Tutor Gabrielle Samson has spent many years in Indonesia, loves the culture and language and would like to share with others.

“Ideally we need a minimum of four people to enrol for this course so we’d like to appeal to the wider community who may not know we offer tuition in this and other fascinating topics,” Sally said.

U3A membership costs $30 for a single person and $50 for two people in one household. The organisation has a website where an enrolment form can be downloaded. New and continuing members can enrol online and also enrol for courses. www.u3awarwick.org.au
