In an afternoon filled with pride and anticipation, the Lions Club of Stanthorpe recently held its annual changeover event.
The event, attended by dedicated Lions and their families, was a memorable occasion as the club bid farewell to its outgoing president, Roger Boswell, and welcomed the incoming president, Sam Costanzo.
The day was not only a celebration of leadership transitions but also a recognition of the club’s outstanding members who have exemplified the Lions’ values of service and community involvement throughout the year. Among the honourees was Graeme Haynes, a newly inducted Lion whose late father, Delbar Haynes, was a cherished member of the club and who served as president in 1998. With his mother Joyce Haynes at his side, Graeme pledged to carry forward his father’s legacy.
Graeme’s induction was overseen by the membership chair and club secretary, Stuart Perrett and his membership was sponsored by past president Des Day.
The event also saw the presentation of two prestigious awards recognising outstanding contributions within the Stanthorpe Lions community. The Lions Roar Award was bestowed upon Sam Marino for his commitment to community service. The James D. Richardson Award, a symbol of selflessness and dedication, was presented to Donna Boswell.
Jane Turner has taken up the role of club secretary. Outgoing president Roger Boswell passed the torch to Sam Costanzo. With new faces, renewed enthusiasm and a shared commitment to service, the Lions Club of Stanthorpe will continue to serve those in need and work towards creating a brighter future.
