Homemade and healthy focus

The Churches of Christ Campus held the first of four Healthwise workshops on 7 August and it was a resounding success.

The event, held in collaboration with the Warwick Weight Crunchers group, saw enthusiastic participation from attendees which has set the bar for the coming workshops.

The workshops, funded through Healthwise’s initiative to create healthier communities, aim to promote disaster resilience and community support following the devastating bushfires. Thanks to a grant from the Australian Government, these workshops have become a reality, offering valuable resources and knowledge to the residents of Warwick.

The Warwick Weight Crunchers, a dedicated group that regularly gathers on the Churches of Christ Campus, have taken on the role of co-hosts for these workshops. They extend a warm invitation to all Warwick residents and community members to attend the upcoming sessions. This inclusive approach aims to foster connections, provide opportunities to learn new skills, and facilitate meaningful interactions among attendees.

Hosted by health author Valerie Pearson, these workshops have been designed to address a wide range of topics. 7 August was a session on Jam making, 4 September will focus on Cheese making and 9 October will be a session about Sourdough Bread making. The final session on 6 November will focus on Gut Health and Fermentation, Valerie’s specialty,

To secure a spot in the upcoming Healthwise Workshops, interested individuals can contact Call Raylene 0400 458 375 or Tracey 0439 102 593.
