Heirlooms, brides and train rides

The Southern Downs Steam Railway’s beloved Children’s Mini Train has returned to Leslie Park, Warwick, captivating visitors during the September school holidays.

Managed by Kevin Patterson, the train recently made a bride and groom’s wedding day even more memorable with a ride as part of their bridal photo shoot.

The happy couple, Brad Buldurs and his new wife Heather, embarked on this adventure, surrounded by the heritage and beauty of cherished family heirlooms. Adorned in exquisite jewellery handed down through generations, Heather became the fifth bride in her family to wear the heirloom brooch on her special day.

This precious brooch holds a long history, originating from Heather’s great, great, great grandmother, Phoebe Drury. Passed down from mother to daughter, it found its way to Ella Grimshaw, who then entrusted it to her daughter, Heather Boyton.

Continuing this cherished tradition, Heather passed it down to her own daughter, Maree Clydon, the current bride’s mother before the train stopped at the train. This brooch symbolises the enduring legacy of love and connection that transcends time.

In addition to the brooch, Heather wore a captivating necklace with a captivating story of its own. This beautiful piece travelled from Latvia following the tumultuous era of World War II, adorning the graceful neck of her grandmother, Anna Buldurs. Presented to Heather by her father, this necklace carries the weight of history and the resilience of generations past, adding an extra layer of sentiment and beauty to her special day.

The operators of the Children’s Mini Train extend their warmest wishes to Brad and Heather, hoping their journey together is filled with everlasting happiness and fulfilment. Grateful for the opportunity to contribute to their cherished memories, they take pride in being a part of this extraordinary celebration.
