The Border District Eisteddfod Committee extends a warm invitation to community members to immerse themselves in a day of diverse performances as audience members for the upcoming Border District Eisteddfod.
Attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy a full day of concerts showcasing various talents and performances.
Anne Lindsay, President of the Border District Eisteddfod 2024 Committee, described the event as a “free concert“ where audience members can witness a wide array of performances and listen to feedback from judges.
“Be part of the audience and sit back and enjoy watching the up-and-coming stars,“ Ms Lindsay said.
Since its inception in 1977, the Border District Eisteddfod has been a cherished annual event in Stanthorpe. Over the years, the Eisteddfod has expanded to incorporate diverse sections in music, drama, and dance, providing amateur competitors of all ages with a platform to showcase their talents and receive professional feedback.
“The aim of it is to allow amateur competitors of all ages to showcase their talents but also have a platform to compete, perform, and also receive feedback from professionals in their field,“ Ms Lindsay said.
With over 1000 competitors participating in 170 sections annually, the Eisteddfod serves as a vital platform for fostering artistic expression and community engagement.
President Lindsay emphasised the importance of events like the Eisteddfod in nurturing a collective interest in the arts and bringing like-minded individuals together in the Southern Downs region.
“It encourages friends and families to get together and support the entrants, it encourages teamwork, and it is a great opportunity most don’t normally get. So that’s why we want to foster it and encourage it,“ she said.
Entries closed on 22 March and the performance is scheduled to take place for the week of 20 May at the Stanthorpe Civic Centre.
